Synonymous with strong and sophisticated women, Bibu's Spring 2017 Collection encapsulated the belle époque period; a time of innovation and opulence throughout Europe. Luxurious silks, tulle ensembles adorned with pearls and crystals were perfectly matched with soft waves created by Lauren McCowan for evo hair.
Using evo builder’s paradise throughout the look, Lauren created flexible a flexible look with strong hold. evo haze was used around the hairline to frame the face and add texture. The end look was sophisticated and timeless; the perfect look for the modern 'it girl'.
3. Using a flat iron, create small bends in one direction then release to create new bends further down the shaft. Work in large vertical sections around the head to create uneven waves through the hair.
4. Loosely plait the hair in large sections to hold the wave in place. this will prevent dropout.

evo Ambassador Kenna Kennor created the perfect pretty in punk look for Libertine's Spring 2017 ready to wear collection at New York Fashion Week.
In order to produce a pliable, lived-in finish to the hair that oozed rebellion, Kennor used evo's award winning shebang-a-bang dry spray wax and haze styling powder. To further personify Libertine’s utilitarian look, Kennor used evo's clip-ity clap setting clips which stayed in the hair throughout the runway to exemplify a disinterested punk vibe. Keep scrolling to learn how to recreate the look yourself.
"Punk is a feeling, not a look." – evo Ambassador Kenna Kennor
1. Spray evo salty dog salt spray all over the hair with particular focus to the back of the hair. Part the hair in the centre.
2. From the crown of the head, back comb 3 inches of the root area with evo truman tail comb.
Day three of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week saw the Haircare Australia team welcome three huge across the day kicking things off with one of our favourite Adelaide-based brands, C/MEO.
Inspired by the architectural lines of the C/MEO 2016 Resort collections, Lauren McCowan for evo® created two complimentary up-do’s for the brand’s second showcase on the MBFWA catwalk. Both looks were modern and wearable, highlighting the detailed necklines, collars and pastel colour palette in C/MEO’s ‘Momentum and Dimension’ collections.
“We worked closely together to define the C/MEO woman and how we would translate this throughout the runway hair looks. With the collection being an abstract take on classics, we decided there was no more classic hair-do than a bun, so we worked to deconstruct the traditional bun in a way that was worthy of the catwalk but still modern and wearable. The end result was slightly dishevelled but completely wearable look created with the magic of evo® styling products.” – Lauren Mccowan
Proving just why C/MEO is the label for on-trend pieces’ season after season, their MBFWA presentation solidified their place in Australian fashion today. Oversized shirts and razor-sharp suits were softened with feminine accents like cinched-in waists, layered pleats and floating hemlines that were presented in soft sorbet hues and clean neutrals.
Renya Xydis created two contrasting styles for the KitX Resort 17 collection presentation at MBFWA 2016 - a sleek androgynous look perfectly juxtaposed by wild, Helmut Newton inspired curls to compliment the combination of colour, patterns and shapes seen throughout the brands’ debut MBFWA showcase.
“We wanted to create two looks that were completely different, yet worked so beautifully together. You have these big, untamed curls created with the Cloud Nine Micro Wand and then this straight and structured look created with the Cloud Nine Wide Iron. The two together, especially side-by-side work in perfect harmony with the clothes.” – Renya Xydis
Titled Flow, the range is a capsule collection and sees an Australian fashion favourite return to the runway. Held at the iconic Reservoir Gardens in Paddington, the venue continued to celebrate the notion of combining two opposing elements within nature – the tough venue balanced by ethereal pieces, geometric and shape combinations and of course sleek strands against wild curly halos.
"Like always, I started with the fabrics and looked at shapes – strips of fabric and then circles and rectangles and how they all came together to work in harmony with each other. Working with Renya, we wanted to create hair looks that mimicked this, with the two completely different styles complimenting each other, as well as the clothing.” – Kit Willow
Teaming up with designers Dan Single and Bambi Northwood-Blyth, Hair Director Lauren McCowan for evo hair created enviably cool ‘bed hair’ for the launch of P.JAMÉ at Ivy Penthouse.
“The look needed to be equally as playful and seductive as the prints and designs throughout the collection. For the girls, we created voluminous ‘bed hair’ waves, building height with evo’s tyler teasing brush, builder’s paradise working hairspray and haze styling powder. For the guys we went for an ‘I woke up like this’ look. Keeping it quite relaxed, we enhanced their hairs’ natural texture by adding structure and volume with evo haze” – Lauren McCowan
Designing for all kinds of bedroom shenanigans, the collection is divided into two main categories, the ‘baller’ and the ‘boudoir’, which includes loose singlets and knee-length shorts in wild prints as well as silky rompers in classic black and white.

For many of us, the wait for a Dry Shampoo that caters to both blondes and brunettes has been a long one and with the introduction of the Moroccanoil Dry Shampoo, the wait is finally over. The new powerful, innovative formula from Moroccanoil is designed to instantly absorb oil and product build-up without leaving behind any visible powder or residue.
Featuring natural volumising and deodorizing agents, as well as a UV filter and a hint of Moroccanoil's signature fragrance, the Moroccanoil Dry Shampoo delivers a clean, fresh, just-left-the-salon finish with every use. Specifically developed to address different tonality needs, the dry shampoo features two colour-specific formulas: one to preserve the integrity of light and blonde tones and one to maintain the richness and dimension of darker hues.
Moroccanoil Dry Shampoo Light
To bring out the best in light tones, Moroccanoil Dry Shampoo Light features subtle violet undertones to help balance brassiness.
Moroccanoil Dry Shampoo Dark
On darker hair, traditional dry shampoos leave behind a white residue that diminishes natural shine; however, Moroccanoil Dry Shampoo Dark Tones is formulated with ultra-fine rice starches that break down and dissipate immediately upon application.
It's not just the tones that make this Dry Shampoo stand out from the crowd, this revolutionary product truly ticks all of the boxes.
At Lakmé we are focussed on equipping colourists with inspiration, tools and the knowledge to excel creatively; we provide industry-leading education coupled with the highest quality colour products. Luxurious colour with a unique heritage that is great value. A focus on innovation, sharing inspiration and knowledge, and fostering a sense of community is at the heart of what we do.
Lakmé’s heritage, grounded in artistic tradition and ties with nature, is the inspiration for the 2016 collection. At the heart of this campaign is Antoni Gaudi’s vision to look to nature for inspiration. His view being that nature does not go out of fashion. The colour palette was derived from imagery of Spanish architecture, art and landscapes; styled to reflect the balance and beauty of the Mediterranean character, designed to inspire and encourage colourists to explore and innovate.
Artists don’t just take inspiration from one area. They live and breathe it through every facet of their existence and it comes in all forms from the world around them. Renacido is an exploration of an artist’s true palette, if that artist were based in the cities, mountains and waters of Spain. The tones in Gaudi’s art, the colour of the hills and the shimmer of the ocean were the basis of our creation.
From the heart of Rotterdam, Scumbag barbers Leen and Bertus hit Australian shores to bring us their Cute and Cuddly Creatures Tour. In a two-week long tour of Australia and New Zealand, the barbers shared their somewhat unconventional yet amazingly brilliant approach to all things business and barbering. While providing us with an insight into their world, we shared a bit of good old Aussie culture and gave them an insight into our flourishing barbering scene.
Kicking things off with a bang, we took the renowned barbers on a tour of Melbourne’s top barbershops in a bid to showcase the different styles of barbering; the standard of which left even these great barbers humbled. Throughout the tour, Leen and Bertus visited many barbershops, giving them the ability to experience the Australian barber culture first hand and see how the Schorem and Reuzel legacy is extending across the globe.
Amongst parties, brewery visits, sightseeing, tattoos and barber battles, the Schorem Boys put on four impressive live shows in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Auckland. With four incredible venues and performances, each audience was given an insight into the spirt of barbering according to Leen and Bertus An eclectic mix of classic style and boyish banter, there were no better people to depict such an interesting tale. Taking it back, the boys, mainly Bertus, the chattier of the two, gave us glimpse into what life is really like at Schorem. From chewing the fat with clients to the intricate detailing that went into the creation of Schorem, there was no stone left unturned.
From the outset, we were told that the night wasn't about the haircuts and any talk of ‘hair shows’ was forbidden. Leen and Bertus are firm believers that what they do isn't worthy of a show, all they want to do is share their story and passion for providing men with a place to escape, a place that brings back the essence of being social. The most basic ideal portrayed throughout the shows was that good old fashioned conversation needs to be at the heart of every barbershop. “Everyone these days is on social media, but to me that’s anti-social. Sure, people come to us for a haircut but its social interaction they need” claims Bertus. If it’s social interaction you’re looking for then Bertus is your man. The self-proclaimed ‘creative one’ immerses himself into chatting with his clients, and in the case of the Cute and Cuddly Creatures Tour, audiences of 200 plus. While Leen powers through a number of cuts on stage, amidst the jokes and storytelling Bertus is able to complete one. It’s clear to see who the businessman in the relationship is, making a truly perfect pairing.
If you can DREAM it, you can DO it...What can we say, it's hard to believe where that little barbershop brought us,...
With the help of a few carefully placed props, a few beers and the hilarious improvisation from the Scumbags themselves, the audience were given the chance to experience that famous Rotterdam barbershop for themselves. Everything about the shows exuded authenticity, in the same way their carefully created shop and range of pomades do. In a room full of hairdressers and barbers alike, inspiration was rife, if not from the cutting, then from the passion that brought Schorem to fruition. The inspiration of building success from something you love. The word Schorem roughly translates to ‘assholes’ in Dutch, yet the dedication and professionalism this dynamic duo show is more genius than ‘asshole’ like. Leen and Bertus are the first to admit that they’re not everyone’s cup of tea but they embrace it. Their mission is to be the most authentic versions of themselves and hope that they inspire at least one person to follow their passion and love what they do. A mission that they have proven to be hugely successful in so far.
If you would like to extend your barbering knowledge and become a 'certified Scumbag' we still have some availability at our Scumbag Session education courses. Led by Reuzel Australia Ambassadors, Denis and Alen Celahmetovic you can learn the traditional and signature cuts as taught at the world-famous Haarsnijder Barbier Academy in Rotterdam.

Kim Kardashian's sudden swap to blonde for Paris Fashion Week earlier in the year had the world talking. Five months on, it's the integrity of Kim's locks on everyone's lips. In what has to be the hair transformation of 2015, Kim went for a dark brown to platinum blonde and surprised us all! However, the news that really shocked us was that her colourists performed this transformation WITHOUT using the one and only proven form of blonde insurance, Olaplex. Thankfully, Kim has now discovered Olaplex and is loving the results.
Kim's Platinum Hair Transformation
Kim's dramatic transformation was the result of a six hour in-salon session. To perform a one-sitting colour transformation like Kim's is risky business. To maintain the colour for her month-long blonde stint, Kim underwent three colouring services which only added to the damage.
After the third process, photo's emerged of Kim with dishevelled, dry-looking locks. Not long after this, Kim went back to her dark roots and although they act as a good disguise, Kim has confirmed that her hair is in the worst condition is has been.
In a recent interview Kim announced that she has now been introduced to Olaplex and uses it to help rebuild the damage caused by her harsh bleaching. She maintains that she has seen dramatic results with Olaplex and it's working to improve her hair and get it back to it's once healthy condition. Kim suggests sleeping with Olaplex No.3 in her hair* and is seeing stronger, healthier hair as a result.
*Please note, using Olaplex No. 3 overnight is Kim's personal tip. Although our recommendation is to use for 10 minutes or longer, we have received great feedback from clients who slept with the product in overnight.
Kim Karadashian's Damaged Blonde Hair Pre-Olaplex
Going from any colour to platinum blonde involves serious work and we recommend that changes like this be be performed over a period of time with regular Olaplex treatments during and in-between services.
Celebrity colourist, Tracey Cunningham has a host of long-standing celebrity clientèle on her books, including Kim's sister Khloe Kardashian (and now Kim), has sworn to never colour a client's hair without Olaplex. Her Facebook page speaks for itself with the results she's achieving. As thousands of colourists around the globe stand by Olaplex, it's stories like that of Kim Karadashians blonde hair damage that demonstrate just how important it is to use, not only during lightening but also as a stand-alone treatment for already compromised hair.
Kim Reveals how Olaplex is saving her damaged hair.
It's not just Kim Kardashian embracing the power of Olaplex, people around the world can't get enough of Olaplex and it's ability to colour and lighten hair without damage and breakage. Our friends at The Glow, Pop Sugar and Oz Beauty Expert have all jumped on board and are loving the results.
