  • Haircare Australia at Hair Expo 2018

    The hairdressing community was in full force this weekend, celebrating the biggest event on the hairdressing calendar – Hair Expo 2018. Back in Melbourne for 2018, hairdressers from every corner of the country – and even the globe! – showed up to learn, teach and discover.

    We were proud to showcase our stable of exclusive salon-first brands at our dedicated Haircare stand – you couldn’t miss us with our Haircare logo hanging proudly above the expo hall, visible from almost anywhere in the room, and the thousands of Haircare showbags that we distributed to all attendees across the weekend.

    Amongst our stable of brands, we were excited to showcase exciting offers from Olaplex, Moroccanoil, Evo, #Mydentity, BaByliss Pro, Denman, Fusion, Mop, Reuzel. We also brought back with us the ever-popular Evo Fab Pro Cart and Pick & Mix stands!

    We had a great time having our brands showcase their talents on the mainstage with Evo, Denman, Olaplex, #Mydentity and Moroccanoil presenting throughout the weekend.

    Let’s face it, an Expo stage would feel incomplete without social media sensation, Guy Tang! Here he is in action, launch his new collections, Naked and Super Hero for #Mydentity.

    Celebrity colourist, Tracey Cunningham, took to the main stage to present the world-first launch of  Olaplex 4 & 5 – before any other country in the world!

    Evo represented in full force with The Young Guns, featuring Nicole Kae and Pete Koziel and with support from with the ever-entertaining Evo ambassador and Hair Expo 2018’s Educator of the Year, Jules Tognini and Evo Creative Director, Lauren McCowan.

    Caterina Di Biase and her Heading Out team presented the wild Salvaggio collection for Denman

    Moroccanoil presented beautiful editorial hair with Peter Beckett and the Moroccanoil Education Team.

  • Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia 2018 Wrap Up

    Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia 2018 (MBFWA 2018) once again provided a showstopping celebration of Australian fashion.

    Making their runway debut, Client Liaison Deluxe Line (CLDL), is the next step in cosmopolitan style and international flavour. Becoming iconic for enhancing their music with their inherent sense of style through custom designed costumes for their dynamic live shows and an ongoing commitment to their eclectic daywear wardrobe.

    For this range, Co-CEO’s Harvey Miller AO and Monte Morgan have turned up the treble to envisage and design a full service fashion collection including Menswear, Womenswear and Accessories. Inspired by archive resort footage of Christopher and Pixie Skase by Rennie Ellis, long late lunches and classic Australian flora and fauna, CLDL is executive relaxation for leisure enthusiasts, where life is a party and you’re always invited.

    Held in the Overseas Passenger Terminal at the Rocks gave views of the Sydney Opera House and an epic location for a runway, depicting the Australian landscape.

    Renya Xydis, Hair Director and Cloud Nine Ambassador, with Aiden Xydis Head Barber at The Men's Grooming Room, created six, funky key looks for the Client Liaison Deluxe Line, ‘Champagne Affection’, – with hair styles featuring big, bouncy blow-outs, high-school girl, curly off centre high ponies with Client Liaison scrunchies, the ultimate Brooke Shields ‘it-girl’ hair, ringlet curls and slick-back hair, capturing the 80’s.

    “I wanted to embody and draw inspiration from one of America’s highly renowned models and actresses, Brooke Shields to create the ultimate 80’s hair. Working at building the hair by creating volume, texture and oomph by using the Cloud Nine O Pod for blow-out styles and the Cloud Nine Curling Wand to form the hairstyle structure for the curly high ponie sealing with styling products to hold the look” – Renya says.

    “Working with the natural state of each of the guys’ hair, I used length to create volume and curls while slicking back shorter styles for a ‘wet look’ vibe” – Aiden commented.

    C/MEO Collective collection on the other hand was all about playing with volume, scale and colour to accentuate the female form and encourage the exploration of individual style. Summer essentials abound, with check dresses, lightweight linen, cinched waist shirting, logo tees and a dose of denim in chalk or classic blue.

    Held at the iconic Carriageworks location, the C/MEO Collective runway saw models weaving between freestanding custom made concertina installations.

    Lauren McCowan, Haircare Group Creative Director and Cloud Nine Hair Director for C/MEO Collective created a multitude of unique looks for the showcase at MBFWA 2018 –with a real focus on enhancing each model’s natural hair type. Undone knotted buns, loose, relaxed waves and ringlet curls graced the runway, dusted with chic hair beads from KELA Hair Jewellery. Embracing individuality was the centre of each of these key looks developed for the colour-filled C/MEO range.

    “I wanted to explore the two biggest trends globally right now which is the 'Art of the Individual' and 'Self Acceptance' - exploring and celebrating each models individual hair type and texture. Working and building a beautiful base, quality to the hair and then using Cloud Nine to seal that in and create beautiful finishes without compromising the quality of each girls hair" - McCowan says.
