Haircare Australia upheld their expectation to be the ultimate Hair Expo hosts in 2017, extending their hospitality from the exhibition to the dance floor and long into the night.
After hair, there’s one thing most hairdressers do well, and that’s party. It’s also no secret that Haircare Australia loves to host one, often taking a ‘come one, come all’ approach in a true celebration of the people and passion defining Australian hairdressing.
The Haircare Australia Hair Expo party has well and truly certified itself as the events largest offsite gathering. The Gauvins appreciate a good time, and ensure all in attendance have exactly that – drinks, live music, quality banter and this year, an impromptu styling competition among FAME Team members, Jamie Furlan, Marie Cain, Joe Ribera and Dion Lee Andrew.
Instigated by Jules Tognini, a dance off quickly evolved into live hair styling competition with each member grabbing the closest partygoer, dousing them in Evo and issuing the quickest transformation possible. We’re unsure who won, but INSTYLE Editor Cameron Pine’s sky-high Bieber-rendition was certainly something – nice one Jamie.
With almost 300 Expo revellers in attendance, there was no shortage of networking opportunities. From fellow salon owners and Prestige Partners to leading session stylists, Haircare staff and owners Jan and Geoff Gauvin, it was an open book of expert knowledge and endless experience for all to indulge.
“The annual Hair Expo party allows us to give back to our clients, spend time with them and say ‘thank you for their support,’” said HCA Creative Director, Lauren McCowan.
“I see it as a really important networking opportunity. At HCA we’re trying to create a community of like-minded salon professionals, it’s about a good time and meeting people that believe in the same principles we do. Building and protecting the industry,” she continued.
And it was certainly a community vibe beneath Sydney’s CBD; strangers became friends, a record bar tab was hit and despite tired Expo feet, the dance floor was alight into Monday’s earliest hours.
