  • Bazaar in Bloom with Moroccanoil

On Thursday 13th October Michele McQuillan and Moroccanoil joined forces with Harper's BAZAAR  as they hosted their second BAZAAR in Bloom fundraising gala. Located at Justin Hemmes' private residence, The Hermitage, in Sydney's Vaucluse, guests enjoyed a couture runway show, highlighting 31 of Australia's most celebrated designers, each of whom created a bespoke gown for the event.

Alongside Michele McQuillan, a talented team from the Haircare Australia salon network came together to create both the runway hair, and assist Michele with an 8-page Harpers Bazaar editorial  shoot (on shelves November). The experience provided stylists with the opportunity to work alongside Michele and gain a valuable insight into the world of runway and editorial styling. Moroccanoil education manager, Violet Sainsbury also had the privilege of styling Australian model, Steffanie Roberts' hair as she attended the event a guest of Moroccanoil.

    Bazaar in Bloom Moroccanoil 1

Hair director, Michele McQuillan transformed hair into effortless, romantic buns with the help of the Moroccanoil Curl Defining Cream, Moroccanoil Luminous Shine Hairspray and the soon to launch, Moroccanoil Dry Texture Spray. With movement and texture, the hair floated down the runway, making the perfect canvas for each of designs on display.

"The timeless elegance of all the dresses needed a continuity within the hair. This was inspired by Victorian women dressed for a summer garden party. By playing with the prudish shape we gave it a fresh sense of wild bohemia. The repressed Victorian bun was fractured into a romantic coquettish knot." - Michele McQuillan

    Get The Look.

    1. Start by shampoo with the Moroccanoil Hydrating Shampoo. If the hair has some movement add a little Moroccanoil Curl Defining Cream to enhance the natural movement. Use your fingers to create a slightly messy center-parting and let the hair air dry/dry naturally.

    2. Once dry, if the hair is straight and needs a little more movement at the hairline -  spray with the Moroccanoil Dry Texture Spray for grip and randomly tong in different directions to create a more natural irregular wave.

    3. Run your fingers through the hair to break up the curls. When you’re happy with the front, pull into a ponytail. Spray more Moroccanoil Dry Texture Spray if you need to or if the hair is too silky.

    4.  Loosely twist ponytail into a flat messy bun. Leave random ends of the hair out so it’s not too neat and pin to secure the shape.

    5. Spray the bun with Moroccanoil Luminous Shine Hairspray Medium.  At the front hairline use your fingers to back brush and create softness, pulling pieces out or pinning bits back.
