The wait is over. The Schorem Barbers of Rotterdam are only a few short weeks away from making their Australian début as they bring their highly anticipated Scumbag Tour Down Under. Coming to Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Auckland to raise hell during September, Haarsnijder & Barbier founders Leen and Bertus will be sharing with the barbers of Australia what it truly means to be a Schorem Scumbag at four shows dubbed "SCHOREM LIVE".
Since opening it's doors, Schorem has taken the global barbering community by storm with it's no bullsh*t approach to classic barbering. From the humble beginnings of opening a small barbershop in the heart of the working class city of Rotterdam to fronting an academy that trains barbers from around the world, the boys are doing everything they can to preserve the art of old school barbering. Which is exactly what they will be sharing with the barbering aficionados of Australia as they burst onto stage in what might just be the educational event of the year.
The Schorem Story - Bringing Barbering Back in it's Purest Form
Born from a love of subcultures, music, Kustom Kulture, skateboarding, tattooing, artwork, comics and street life in general, Schorem prides itself as being a place to have fun, listen to music and enjoy a beer. A simple offering that has resulted in what Leen and Bertus describe as "unexpected" success. The rationale behind Schorem is preserving the history of barbering, bringing as many traditional elements to the table as possible to create a place that exudes authenticity. From visuals to the masculine scents of aftershaves and tonics, and the sound the razor on the strop, you're walking back in time from the moment you walk through the door.
Known for it's working class attitude and street life, Rotterdam sets the perfect location for Schorem. Amongst the vintage record stores, clothing stores, bars and coffee shops there are no chain stores in sight. This working class attitude extends past the walls of the shop. In everything Leen and Bertus do, they stay true to the integrity of simplistic, traditional barbering. Through such success, the world-famous academy, fittingly named, the Old School came to be. Training hundreds of barbers from across the globe, the Old School takes the Schorem philosophy to the next level, teaching those eager to learn from the best, the fundamentals of classic and traditional cuts and shaves.
To perfectly compliment the cuts they perform and teach, Leen and Bertus decided to create their own pomades, and so came the launch of Reuzel. Digging deep into the history of pomades, Reuzel is a wink to the days when barber-surgeons used pomades made out of animal fat to close wounds. Scented with apples to disguise the smell of the animal fats, Reuzel also continues this tradition. Now with an impressive range of four pomades; the green, red, pink and blue, Leen and Bertus have the perfect product for every Pompadour, Flattop and Psycho Quiff they create.
Continuing their passion to educate the next generation of barbers, Leen and Bertus will be sharing their secrets on stage as they demonstrate live cutting and a whole lot of banter with their Schorem Live Tour. This once in a lifetime opportunity to see the duo live, will give you a insight into the Schorem way, to help you harness your skills as a barber and offer your clients a truly memorable barbering experience.
