February 2013

evo @ LFW

It’s officially a week since evo were rocking London Fashion Week with Jena.Theo, and how time has flown by! It only seems like yesterday we were blow-drying, straightening and perfecting the gorgeous models for the A/W 2013 show.

With a brief of windswept ‘clean grunge’ the evo style warriors set to work effortlessly spritzing, spraying and helmuting each model as they went....

/live/blog/LFW styling.jpg

Extreme, sharp side partings with shine that would send a magpie into total meltdown gave way to waterfalls of fringe which engulfed the side of each models face. With bright orange lips screaming ‘look at me’ from under masses of hair, the girls had attitude the collection deserved.

The abstract silhouettes of the clothes, spray painted flower designs and cold expression of the models subtly warped the established idea of beauty. Colour popped just as did the light bulbs from the cameras as each model strutted down the catwalk to Aphex Twin’s Window Licker.

Want the look? easy tiger smoothing fluid,  mister fantastic texture spray, root canal base support spray, love touch shine spray and haze styling powder are your key ingredients. Plus don’t forget to lock in place with some helmut finishing spray!

November 2012

Movember

The month formally known as November has been transformed beyond all recognition. This is the time when men (and perhaps even some hairy women) across the UK and rest of the world cultivate their whiskers in honour of the almighty moustache.

Yes, you guessed it. This blog post is in honour of Movember.

The aim of all this Mo growth is to raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and testicular cancer. A very good cause I’m sure you will agree.

evo have picked some of our favourite, and finest moustaches to serve as some inspiration to all those who are partaking this year’s Moathon.

/live/blog/Tom Selleck.jpg

A moustache as fine as Tom Selleck’s has taken many years of grooming and cultivation. Possibly one of the most infamous moustaches on the circuit, this soup strainer shot to fame in Magnum PI, and still holds a special place in our hearts.

/live/blog/Salvador Dali.jpg

Salvador Dali’s moustache was at times as surreal as his artwork. The reverse mo is a design classic; difficult to pull off, but oh so worth it. This style requires much preening, care and attention; a real commitment.

/live/blog/Hulk Hogan.jpg

80’s wrestler Hulk Hogan wouldn’t be where he is today without his almighty handlebar. White as snow and as sculpted as a Michelangelo masterpiece, this specimen still brings a tear to our eyes.

/live/blog/Lionel Richie.jpg

Hello? Is it me you’re looking for? Yes Lionel Richie it is you who we seek. We wish to honour your moustache! Few people know this, but Lionel’s hit ‘Endless Love’ was actually inspired by his love of his lip whiskers*.

/live/blog/Ron Burgandy.jpg

Oh Ron Burgundy. Why can’t more news readers adorn their faces with such majesty? Strong and distinguished, this mo makes you sit up and listen to the news.

* This may be a romanticised ideal about the origins of Endless Love, rather than a substantiated fact.

hair raising halloween hairstyles

it’s Halloween weekend. the smell of pumpkins and toffee apples is filling the air, and thoughts are turning to fancy dress outfits and ways to avoid those pesky trick or treaters. conversations at evo have turned to Halloween hair, and those iconic hair raising looks. in true Halloween style, we are paying homage to some of the best spooks, ghouls and witches around….and offering you tips on how to replicate them!

Edward Scissorhands

want the look? try some root canal to give the base some lift, then backcomb in a bottle with haze styling powder. Dust through the mid lengths and ends to get that textured look and hold with helmut finishing spray.

Morticia Addams

the queen of vamp

to get locks as sleek as toffee coated apples and as shiny as the light of a full moon, start with easy tiger straightening balm. use some icon welder to protect while you straighten with irons and finish with love touch shine spray.

Dracula

think Halloween, think vampires

slicked back is biting back, and you need to get some gangsta grip bonding resin in your life. rub a thumbnail sized amount in the palms of your hands and run through the hair, comb back and voila! with a hold factor of five, and a shine factor of three it will ensure your alter ego stays put as you party well into witching hour.

Bellatrix Lestrange

create curls with liquid rollers and then tease and separate with salty dog to give that textured, matt finish. build volume with builder’s paradise – ta-dah, curls crazier than Bellatrix!

Happy Halloween……

evo styles at Jena.Theo London Fashion Week Show

What a collaboration! evo, the purveyors of individuality and unique style; hooking up with fashion house Jena.Theo. Combing the best ofUK's rising talent in the haircare and fashion world.

Jena.Theo's Spring/Summer 2013 collection 'Hell's Angel', beautifully inspired by the tale of a woman living in harmony with her environment. Her relationship with the architecture and nature around her.

 /live/blog/black printed jacket.jpg

The detailing in the tattoo printed silks, glass bead embroidered latex, both digitally and hand-pulled screen printed on to butter soft leather were all delicate and ethereally elegant. On closer inspection the insect and skull elements made the pieces edgy and unique.

 /live/blog/latex cape blog.jpg

evo hair had a 12 strong styling team working backstage to create mini beehives, unique to each model with texture and lift falling into silky soft, sleek length. evo’s haze styling powder and builder’s paradise were the order of the day, providing the structure and hold that saw each model through two outfit changes.

The buzz behind the scenes was electric, with the stylistic, make-up and hair teams pulling together to create a show that everyone really can be proud of.
