We're having a Hairy Fashion Moment

While trawling the net for fabulous snippets about the world of hair I came across these amazing and truly original creations from the Sonia Rykiel SS09 and Maison Martin Margiela SS09 shows.

What’s even more fabulous is that super designer Diane Von Furstenberg wore the Mason Martni Margiela piece on the front of Purple magazine and Kate Moss was seen on the front of V magazine with some super hairy shoulder pads (probably not suitable for a night on the town or down your local!)

One of my favourite hairy designs is by Holly Russell (Manchester Metropolitan University) who actually went on have her hairy creation worn by none other that Gaga herself!

So designers, I plead with you, bring back the hairy fashion in time for winter I’m fed up of fur and feathers are so 2009.

Rebel Pin Up Salon Launched

From the people who brought you Box Creative in Leeds, super cool salon Rebel Pin Up has been born. Don’t fear though, they’re more evo now that you could ever imagine and have moved into a new ultra trendy home within the creative quarter at Leeds’ Paper Scissors Stone.

”We have gathered our thoughts and now that the rest have caught up, we have decided it’s time again to cause some social unrest, to push the boundaries, take risks and do something a little bit different.” exclaims super stylist and Rebel Pin Up God Craig Christon.

If you can’t get enough of your favourite designer brands and the over the top logoed bags and swag then why not take it that one step too far and get a designer logo emblazed on your contact lenses… yes that’s right you can now get Christian Dior contact lenses with a blingy gold edging. Is there anything the luxury giants won’t stoop to, to make some cash!?

Hair'em Scare'em

As I’m sure you’re aware by now we’re mega fans of the weird and wonderful things that go on in the hair world and this book is no exception.

Hair’em Scare’em is an extraordinary book that shows some of the most bizarre ways to work with hair from creating curtains from tresses of hair to two giant hair people dancing the night away. The astonishing works featured in this book are sure to be an indication of trends in hair outside the mainstream.

Our personal favourite? The cover. Where else can you see a cousin it lookalike having a crafty fag while draped in the most beautiful auburn hair? If this is your idea of coffee table reading, get your mitts on it here.
